Conference 2018

National Conference for Catechetical Leadership| National Association for Lay Ministry | Federation for Catechesis with Hispanics

We walked with Christ through our sisters in brothers from NCCL and FCH in Chicago in May/June 2018 and celebrated a collaborative national conference.  We joined together for prayer, rejuvenation, and formation to continue growing as ministerial professionals.

NALM Forum/Workshops included:

  • Mark Hoggard and Bridget Klawitter, Ph.D., "Exploring Changes in the 21st Century Parish" and "Exploring Parish Structures, Administration and Finances in the 21st Century Parish"
  • Bob McCarty, DMin.,"Going, Going, Gone….The Dynamics of Disaffiliation in Young Catholics" and "From Surviving to Thriving in Pastoral Ministry: The Pain and the Blessing!"
  • Edward P. Hahnenberg, Ph.D., "The Practice of Practical Theology: Ministry Formation from the Ground Up"

Our Episcopal Moderator, Archbishop Wester joined us for our Annual NALM Business meeting.  After Archbishop Wester's brief address to the members, we shared the news of moving to a "virtual office".  Reports were then given from the following: Membership Committee, Regional Representatives, Finance Report, Development Committee.  Three outstanding Board members were recognized for their service on the Board: David Amico, Kathy Barkdull, and Diana Matthews.  We also installed the new Board. Deacon Keith Davis gave the NALM State of the Conference and received a loud applause for the direction NALM is moving in.

We also awarded the Gaudium et Spes Award to Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C., and the Catholic Apostolate Center for their promoting an understanding of the Church in the world according to the vision of Vatican II.

Overall, it was a very good conference!
